On September 29, 1813, Nehemiah wrote his last will and testament. Five days later, on October 4th, 1813 he enlisted. He served under Colonel Wilson and Captain Brodin,and was in the Battle of New Orleans, 1815 (fought fifteen days after peace had been declared). The war was over, but on the way home to Tennessee he died of "Camp Fever", probably on the Natchez Trace. After Nehemiah's death, Charity packed up her possessions and children and moved with her brother, James Stark to Miller County, Missouri. She married Reverend Jonathon MALKAY of Moniteau County, Missouri, on 26 July, 1829. Jeremiah Vernon died while on his way to the gold fields in California. He was buried on the trail.
