The OYLER and WYSONG families were close in their emigration in the U.S.,
land transactions and with three of their children respectively
intermarrying.
Rocky Mount is the county seat of Franklin County, and was for nearly 100
years, two rival villages, Rocky Mount and Mount Pleasant, that combined in
1873. Franklin county was named for Benjamin Franklin who was a popular hero
in 1785 when the county was organized.
