Notes: William began working in a sawmill in Herget, Arkansas at the age of
twenty. In 1917, he began working with the Singer Co. and would retire
43 years later. When both of his parents died within months of each
other in 1919, he took care of his brothers, who were only 13 and 11
at the time. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
